The trundle is sized and finished to sit under the Scandinavian beds, so it can be ordered alongside the bed at the start or added the year a younger sibling starts asking for sleepovers. Out, it is a real twin sleeping surface. In, it is a shadow line under the bed and the floor is clear for play.

The handhold is inset into the front panel rather than bolted onto it, so nothing sticks out into the walkway beside the bed and nothing catches a shin at night, while still giving an easy grip when the trundle needs to come out.
